Guide: Generate a Driving Licence Check Code

If you need to generate a "check code" for your driving instructor, a hire company or your employer - simply follow these steps.

The website you will need is here: View or share driving licence information
You will also need: your driving licence number (found on your driving licence photocard), national insurance number and postcode of where your driving licence is registered.

Step 1

Sign in to your "online driving licence" using your driving licence number, national insurance number and postcode.

Step 2

On the tabs across the top, click the "Get your check code" tab

Step 3

Click the green "Get a code" button which will generate a new check code for you

The code code will be a random mixture of uppercase and lowercase letters and numbers. This code is case sensitive, so it needs to be copied exactly as it is.

Step 4

Send the last 8 characters of your driving licence number and your check code to your instructor, hire company or employer for them to view your driving licence information online
